Wildlife and Activities
Lake Mburo is one of the only Uganda parks where you can walk or ride on horseback among the wildlife, since it lacks the resident lion and elephant populations of the country’s bigger parks. Zebra, impala, eland and buffalo are common, and a boat cruise on the lake adds hippos, crocodiles and a strong selection of waterbirds.
Getting There
Lake Mburo sits directly on the road between Kampala and Bwindi, roughly three hours from the capital, making it the natural stopover for travelers driving to or from gorilla trekking rather than a flight destination.
